Tayto crisps recalled as golf ball fragments found in packets

In one of the strange recalls of a food product in Ireland in recent years – Tayto have recalled some products with best before dates in late August after the discovery of. fragments of a golf ball were found in “a small number of packs”.

In a statement last night, the company said they believe the material may have “inadvertently been harvested with our potatoes”.




The affected products have best before dates of 21, 22 and 23 August 2024.

The products are:

  • Tayto Cheese & Onion 37g
  • Tayto Salt & Vinegar 37g
  • Tayto Cheese & Onion 6 pack (6x25g)
  • Tayto Variety 6 pack (6x25g)
  • Tayto Cheese & Onion 6 pack flashed €2.50 (6x25g)
  • Tayto Variety 6 pack flashed €2.50 (6x25g)
  • Tayto Cheese & Onion 10 pack flashed €3.75 (10x25g)
  • Tayto Cheese & Onion 12 pack (12x25g)

The company said the voluntary recall was a precautionary measure and was “initiated in the best interests of our consumers”. Anybody who returns the affected products should get a refund at the point of purchase.

The statement added that Tayto Snacks are working closely with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and with customers to ensure the potentially affected product is no longer available for purchase.
