Teenager charged with murder after man stabbed to death at shopping centre

A teenager has been charged with the murder of a man. Tom Ellis, 25, died from a single knife wound following an incident outside the Ropewalk shopping centre in Queens Road, Nuneaton, on Saturday, June 8.

A 16-year-old boy from Nuneaton has been charged with murder. He is due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on June 14. A 15-year-old boy was released without further action and a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old were released on bail.

Another 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on June 11. Det Insp Gareth Unett said: “The thoughts of Warwickshire Police continue to be with the family and friends of Tom, during this incredibly difficult time.

“I’d like to thank the officers and police staff who have worked long hours to help get us to the point of charging a suspect. I would also like to thank the community for all their support, and continue to appeal for anyone with information to get in touch.

“It’s important we now allow the criminal justice process to perform its role.”
