Tennis beauty Emma Raducanu among Grand Slam champions awarded Wimbledon wildcards
Former British number one, Emma Raducanu, has been awarded a wildcard entry to compete in the Wimbledon Championships next month.
Raducanu, 21, is among four Grand Slam champions who have received this exemption for the women’s singles category.
Joining her are Japan’s Naomi Osaka, Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki, and Germany’s Angelique Kerber, the 2018 Wimbledon titleholder.
What are wildcards?
The All England Club grants wildcards to players who do not hold a high enough ranking to qualify directly for the main draw.
Raducanu, still in recovery following wrist and ankle surgeries that sidelined her for most of the previous year, including last year’s Wimbledon, will return to the prestigious tournament through this special entry.
