Tennis star makes bizarre request during Wimbledon match and immediately works

Jelena Ostapenko made a bizarre request during her Wimbledon quarter-final with Barbora Krejcikova.

Ostapenko lost the opening set against Krejcikova, her first time dropping a set the whole tournament, and saw the match slipping away.

The match, and a place in the semi-final, was slipping away from her as she went 4-1 down in the second.

The Russian somehow managed to get back into it and drag it back to 4-4, but lost her serve the very next game.

As she sat down at the changeover, Ostapenko gestured to her box that someone needed to leave.

The people sitting in her box on Court One at Wimbledon were taken aback by this bizarrely request and started pointing at who she wanted to go.

Eventually one of her coaches left and it seemingly immediately made a difference.

Ostapenko broke Krejcikova’s serve to keep herself in the match and eventually took it to a tie break.

This shocked absolutely nobody on social media, who are used to her unusual antics by now.

One wrote: “Ostapenko doing Ostapenko things.”

Another said: “Ostapenko banishing her coach from the stands I’m cackling.”

Despite taking that second set to a tie break, Krejcikova held her never to book her place in the semi-final.

It may have been a defeat for Ostapenko, but she has made plenty of fans during her brilliant run to the last eight at Wimbledon.

Even Lil Wayne loves to watch her, writing on X: “Jelena Jelena Jelena!!! I am and I been a huge fkn fan!!! a joy to watch…EVERY TIME!”
