Tennis stars of the future to showcase at Belfast City IFT Tournament 2024

Tennis stars of the future from around the world are to take to the courts in Northern Ireland next week for the Belfast City International Tennis Federation Tournament.

The Belfast City ITF Tennis Tournament returns to the Windsor Tennis Club Belfast from June 22 to June 28, 2024. As a J60 ITF level event, this tournament has been a staple in the Ulster tennis calendar since its inception in 2013, providing a crucial platform for Under 18 players to showcase their talents on a global stage.




The Belfast City ITF Tennis Tournament has established itself as a key event for young athletes aiming to make their mark in the world of tennis. This year’s tournament promises to be an exciting week filled with high-level competition, featuring future stars of the sport as they battle for ITF ranking points and invaluable competitive experience.

Since last year, the ITF have upgraded the level of the event to J60, in recognition of Windsor’s performance in successfully hosting the tournament over the last number of years. This has attracted an even higher standard of player this time, and the event promises to feature a very high level of tennis.

Windsor also welcomes back their former Director of Tennis Simon McFarland as the tournament Referee again and are delighted that this link between the club and the tournament has been maintained during this week.

Players from all over the world will be taking part in the tournament, with entries received from players from USA, Australia, Japan, South America as well as Ireland, Britain, and Europe.

Tennis Ireland President Letty Lucas said “Tennis Ireland are delighted to, once again, welcome the ITF Under 18 to Windsor Tennis Club from Saturday 22nd to Friday 28th June. This promises to be a great week’s tennis with Ireland’s top players competing to win ranking points and the prestigious winner’s trophy. Interested in tennis? Put the dates in your diary and pop in to the Windsor club to watch some quality tennis. A warm welcome is extended to all.”

Windsor Chair Ronan O’Kane said “We are proud at Windsor to have hosted this event since 2013, the longest consecutive hosting of an ITF event in Ireland. This is testament to the high-quality facilities at Windsor and the professionalism of our coaching staff at ‘Belfast’s Friendliest Club’.”

The local setting also allows Ulster players the opportunity to gain competitive experience and ranking points at international level without the significant expenses of having to travel to tournaments abroad.

The launch event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Micky Murray, the President of Tennis Ireland, Letty Lucas, and Tennis Ireland Chief Executive Kevin Quinn, as well as other local politicians and Tennis Ireland and Windsor representatives.
