Terrier Twelve – #12: Women’s Tennis Makes Fifth Consecutive Trip To PL Title Match, Garners Postseason Accolades – Boston University Athletics

Returning for a 16th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. In 2023-24, over half of BU’s teams either won a conference title or finished runner-up at their league championship, and all of those programs will be represented in the countdown. Check back each Tuesday and Friday this summer as we unveil this year’s Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com.

Kicking off this year’s series at No. 12 is women’s tennis, highlighted by a fifth consecutive trip to the Patriot League title match.

The Terriers finished the season with 15 wins, including a notable upset over then-No. 55 FAU in a 4-3 decision. BU also went undefeated in the regular season against Patriot League opponents with a 5-0 record.

Senior Victoria Carlsten was named the Patriot League Player of the Year for the second time in her career and was a First Team All-Patriot League selection. In addition to her league honors, she received the ITA Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award for the New England region. She finished the season with 21 singles wins and 16 doubles wins, playing the majority of her singles dual matches at the top of the lineup.

Freshman Uma Bakaityte, who clinched the upset over FAU, was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and joined Carlsten on the First Team. Bakaityte garnered 16 dual match singles wins and 13 dual match doubles wins in her rookie season. The Kaunas, Lithuania, native also collected two Patriot League Player of the Week awards and went undefeated in league singles play.

Senior Kaitlin Tan was named to the Second Team All-Patriot League and was honored as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Her All-Patriot League selection marked the fourth of her career as she was on the first team in 2021 and 2022 and named to the second team in 2023. Tan wrapped up her senior season with 23 singles wins and 16 doubles wins.
