Thomas Tuchel reportedly met with new Man United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe last week over potentially replacing manager Erik ten Hag, laying out plans for what he would do if he was to become the club’s new manager.

United are currently reviewing Ten Hag’s standing at the club after what was a miserable campaign up until their FA Cup final triumph over Man City.

While Ten Hag has continuously grasped for the mitigation of a debilitating injury pile-up when things have gone against United, they have still performed below the expected standards.

An eighth-place finish in the Premier League was their lowest in 34 years and they ended up with a negative goal difference – something totally unthinkable just a few years ago.

Their European campaign was a complete failure and ultimately had Ten Hag not found salvation in winning the FA Cup the debate over whether he should be sacked would be settled.

Tuchel reportedly told Ratcliffe his plans if he were to become the club’s new manager

And BILD journalist Christian Falk has now confirmed that Ratcliffe has recently held a face-to-face meeting with Thomas Tuchel.

Falk wrote on Twitter: ‘there was a meeting in Monaco last Tuesday between Thomas Tuchel and the new Manchester United shareholder Jim Ratcliffe.

‘Tuchel revealed his plans if he were to take over the coaching position in the event of Erik ten Hag being fired.

‘Tuchel is said to have explained to the United co-owner how he could get United’s sporting problems like Sancho and Mason Mount back on track.

Ten Hag’s position is currently under review and may have been saved by the FA Cup triumph

‘Tuchel mentioned Antonio Rudiger as example that he had already succeeded in the past in getting players with great potential back to top performance.

Jadon Sancho’s future is up in the air after what was a successful six-month loan spell with Borussia Dortmund.

The English winger helped the German club reach the Champions League final after joining in January following a falling out with Ten Hag.

Mount never managed to get going after signing for £60m last summer with the attacking midfielder struggling with injuries.

Ratcliffe has made a number of significant changes to transform the club off the field and there has been rampant speculation in recent months that a similar change will come in the dugout.
