Three arrested in relation to demonstrations at Taoiseach’s house released without charge
Three men who were arrested by gardaí investigating demonstrations at the Taoiseach’s house in Wicklow, have been released without charge.
Simon Harris’s house was targeted twice in recent weeks, most recently last weekend.
Gardaí confirmed on Thursday that two men aged in their 40s and one in his 30s were arrested under the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act by officers in the Wexford/Wicklow district.
“Gardaí in the Wexford/Wicklow Division supported by the Special Detective Unit have arrested three males, for alleged offences contrary to Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act, this morning, as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged harassment of an elected official”.
The men were detained at Garda stations in Co Wicklow under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
They were then released without charge on Thursday evening.
Gardaí said a file would be prepared for submission to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), and that investigations are ongoing.
RTÉ has reported one of the men is being questioned about last Friday’s incident when Mr Harris’s home was targeted by protestors. The two others are being detained in connection with an incident last month, the broadcaster reported.
In April, Mr Harris said he was “frustrated” protests were still taking place outside the homes of politicians.
