Tom Brady makes FOX Sports commentary debut ahead of £295m NFL pundit job
Tom Brady was in the commentary booth at the UFL Championship game on Saturday evening as he got some practice in ahead of his FOX Sports debut in the NFL later this year
Tom Brady made his debut in the FOX Sports commentary booth this weekend, getting a taste of the action at the UFL Championship game as he gears up to become an NFL broadcaster for the network in 2024.
While Brady didn’t actually call the game, which saw the Birmingham Stallions trounce the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0 to snatch the UFL Championship Trophy, it marked the first time the iconic quarterback donned the headset, readying himself for a massive upcoming NFL season.
The NFL great made quite the impression during his short stint on Saturday night, offering insightful analysis on the offenses at play. Chatting with Joel Klatt and Curt Menefee, Brady shared: “They’re all a little different. You get into these games, and there’s a lot of defense out there right now. You see defense going out there, playing with a lot of energy.”
“But someone’s gotta get the ball down the field and open this field up a little bit. There’s a lot of horizontal passes, and the defense is swarming and trying to punch the ball out. So make them defend every blade of grass.”, reports the Mirror US.
The Stallions indeed dominated the match, clinching a 25-0 victory with quarterback Adrian Martinez scoring thrice, including two rushing touchdowns and a pass to ex-Seattle Seahawks wideout Gary Jennings Jr. , securing the championship. Martinez was also crowned the game’s MVP, an award presented by Brady himself.
Brady sees this as a great opportunity to get some practice in before he dives headfirst into the new season, joining FOX’s top commentary team with his first game already lined up.

Before retiring in 2022, he inked a whopping 10-year, £295million contract with the company. Now, just months away from stepping into his new role, Brady is set to follow in the footsteps of many successful former players who’ve made the transition to commentary.
The 46 year old will join Kevin Burkhardt, the play-by-play voice, as co-commentator in Cleveland on September 8 when the Browns host Dallas in Week 1 of the regular season. The seven-time Super Bowl champ will fill Greg Olsen’s shoes on FOX’s premier team.
This could potentially lead to him calling the shots at the Super Bowl in the 2024 season, which FOX has exclusive rights to, scheduled to take place in New Orleans next February.
