Tottenham announce lucrative new BetMGM sponsorship deal
Tottenham Hotspur have announced BetMGM as their new training wear sponsors to take over from Getir in a three-year deal.
Previous reports have placed the new deal as being worth around £10million a season for the north London club, which is £2million more a season than the Getir one was. The Turkish-based delivery firm signed a three-year deal back in 2021, but their troubles have been widely reported in recent months and Tottenham were prepared for the fact that the deal would naturally come to a close at the end of last season.
Sky News reported last month that Turkish-based Getir was left with a debt of close to £5million to the Premier League side.
Shirt sponsorship values have risen in recent years, including training wear ones, which would appear to be reflected in the reported increase in the annual amount that Tottenham will get for this deal for the name Ange Postecoglou’s side will wear on their shirts as they train at Hotspur Way and the warm-up shirts before games.
The club said in a statement: “The brand will become the club’s Official Betting Partner for both the men’s and women’s team, and the Official Front of Training Wear Partner for the men’s team. Through the partnership, BetMGM will feature on media backdrops and the men’s first team training kit during Premier League, domestic cup and European fixtures. Additionally, BetMGM will be highlighted on pitchside LEDs and big screens at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“The club will also be working with BetMGM on providing unique experiences for our fans via giveaways and through partnership events.”
Last year Premier League clubs agreed to remove gambling logos from matchday shirts from the 2026/27 season onwards, but they will be allowed to use them on training wear, sleeve sponsorship and advertising around their stadium and training grounds.
Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “We are delighted to announce this partnership with BetMGM. The Club and BetMGM’s values align exceptionally well through a competitive spirit, whilst also continuing to strive for greatness.
“BetMGM has demonstrated it is putting its customers first by continuously developing its product offering to fans. Throughout this partnership, we are looking to help BetMGM further establish itself in the UK market, as well as enhancing customers’ knowledge around responsible gambling.”
Sam Behar, UK Director of BetMGM, said: “We are very proud to launch this partnership with Spurs as their progressive spirit fully aligns with BetMGM’s ambitions. This is our third Premier League deal in just a week, and we look forward to kicking off this exciting season as we continue to grow BetMGM’s presence in the world of sports.”
BetMGM, which entered the UK market in 2023 and is part of the LeoVegas Group, also has a number of smaller sponsorship deals with Manchester City, Newcastle United and Wolves, but will become more prominent with their training wear deal with Tottenham. That deal will not contain the company name on the training shirts worn by supporters though.
Spurs’ newly-released Nike home and away kits came out this month and within the launches, the club’s statements read: “For the 2024/25 season, all of our kits will be sold without the sleeve partner logo, and our training range will be sold without the training wear partner logo. These are excluded from retail inventory for the coming season.”
