Tourist ‘falls for Galway farmer’ on holiday as TikTok shows 16 year aftermath

A tourist who visited Galway nearly two decades ago has posted a hilarious video showing how she fell for the charm of a local farmer.

It was only a short video but in the 10 seconds, it perfectly encapsulates Elinor’s life in the 16 years that followed that first meeting during a backpacking trip.




It starts with a picture of herself and the Galway farmer standing in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as the sun bakes down on the farmer’s pasty Irish skin.

Surely things could only get better from that point? Well, queue the next bit of the video and it’s the same woman only she’s not enjoying the sun in Sydney. Instead, she’s living in Tuam.

Posting a description, she wrote: “That feeling when you fall for the charms of a Galway farmer during your backpacking years in 2008…and now you’re nearly 40 and live in Tuam.”

Judging by the comments beneath the video, most got a good laugh from it. One said: “This gave me a good laugh, thank you,” while a second sarcastically added: “Living the dream then?”
