Traffic plan announced for Thomond Park concerts

Traffic management will be in place across the weekend.

Thomond Park in Limerick will play host to three major concerts this weekend 12th – 14th July. 

On Friday night Snow Patrol are in town supported by Limerick-based band Kingfishr. Saturday sees Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini take to the stage before Liam Gallagher performs on Sunday night. 

The weekend of music will see large crowds descend on the area and as such, Gardaí are advising motorists, residents and pedestrians that a traffic management plan will be in place across the weekend.

From 16:00 to 23:30 on each night, traffic will not be permitted on Cratloe Road outside Thomond Park.

Cratloe Road, from its junction with Shelbourne Road & Kileely Road (Hassetts Cross) to its junction with Old Cratloe Road/Brookville Avenue (TUS roundabout) will be closed to traffic.

Traffic travelling out bound on Sexton Street North will be diverted onto Shelbourne Road or Kileely Road. 

Traffic travelling inbound on Old Cratloe Road will be diverted onto Brookville Avenue to Ivans Cross and the Ennis Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Thomond Park area and expect delays due to diversions and road closures in operation.

Road Closures will apply from 15:00 hrs onwards at the following locations;

  • Ennis Road at its junction / entrance into Lansdowne Park
  • Shelbourne Road Upper at its junction with Shelbourne Park
  • Shelbourne Road Upper at its junction with Mayorstone Drive
  • Kileely Rd (R464) at its junction with Ballynanty Rd.
  • Knockalisheen Rd at its junction with Ballynanty Road
  • Cratloe Road at its junction with Shelbourne Road & Kileely Road (Hassetts Cross)
  • Cratloe Road at its junction with Old Cratloe Road & Brookville Avenue (TUS roundabout)
  • Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Avenue
  • Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper (2 separate closures) 
  • Shannonville/Hazeldene at its junction with the Ennis Rd.
  • Corrib Drive at its Junction with Ennis Rd.
  • Knockalisheen Road/ Ballygrennan Road (By the Red Gate)
