Tragedy as motorcyclist, 20s, dies in crash in West Cork

A man has been killed in a crash in West Cork today.

The collision occurred at Curravarahane, Bandon at approximately 11am this morning and involved a motorcycle and a car. The motorcyclist, a male in his 20s, was fatally injured and a section of the road was closed by emergency services.




The man’s body has been taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place in the coming days. No other injuries have been reported.

The road has since re-opened. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have completed their examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this available to Gardaí.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Monday morning, 24th, June 2024 at Curravarahane, Bandon in Co.Cork.

“The incident occurred at around 11am. The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was fatally injured. His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place in the coming days. No other injuries have been reported.”
