Travel expert warns you could be charged for new Ryanair boarding pass rule
A travel content creator has urged holidaymakers to look out for extra charges when flying on a Ryanair flight. The creator known as NDA Internet has urged people not to be “caught out”.
In a video from May, NDA spoke of a new Ryanair boarding pass system, claiming passes will no longer be sent to customers online. He claimed: “This new boarding pass system is only for people that haven’t paid for an allocated seat.
“Because if you haven’t paid for an allocated seat, you’re gonna have to queue at the airport on the day of your flight.”

The creator suggested this new ‘rule’ will impact your boarding time on the day of your flight, even leading you to miss your flight. NDA continued: “Given the possible delays and waiting times at the moment.”
He caveats this news with the revelation that Ryanair hasn’t made an official announcement, but there have been reports on this situation happening to customers recently.
According to Ryanair’s website , passengers will be able to access their boarding passes via the ‘My Bookings’ section on its website, or via the airline’s app. Passes will be available once you’ve checked in for your flight.
However, if you’ve forgotten your boarding pass and don’t have access to the Ryanair App to download it, you will need to get one printed at the check-in desk, but you will be charged a reissue fee. The airline has also reminded passengers that there are some airports which can’t accept mobile boarding passes, including Turkey (except Dalaman airport), Morocco and Tirana, Albania.
The airline has shared some more information under its general terms and conditions for check-in, boarding and seating (under Article 6 of the conditions). Ryanair wrote under Article 6.2: “You must check in online at www.ryanair.com and print or download your boarding pass, unless you have a Flexi Plus ticket, in which case you can check in at the airport for free.
“6.2.2 – Online check-in opens 60 days before the scheduled departure time if you have purchased an allocated seat. You will be allocated a seat free of charge, when you check in online between two days and two hours before the scheduled departure time. You cannot check in online during the two hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time.
“6.2.3 – Once you have checked in online you can print copies of your boarding pass, or download them to your mobile phone, up to two hours before the scheduled departure time. Your boarding pass must be printed on a single A4 page or downloaded through our app.”
Ryanair has been contacted for comment.
