Trial of barrister for murder adjourned until October
The trial of a senior barrister who is accused of murdering a man in a shooting at a farm in Dublin has been adjourned until October.
54-year-old Diarmuid Rossa Phelan of Kiltalown Lane, Tallaght in Dublin, is charged with murdering Keith Conlon at Hazelgrove Farm on Kiltalown Lane on 22 February 2022.
Mr Conlon, who was 36, was seriously injured in a shooting at the farm and died in hospital two days later.
The trial of Mr Phelan, a law professor and senior counsel, was due to begin today.
However, the Central Criminal Court heard there was an issue with an expert report which could not be resolved immediately.
Ms Justice Siobhan Lankford said with “considerable reluctance”, she would adjourn the trial, which is due to last at least four weeks, until October.
It will be mentioned in court in July to see what progress has been made.
