Tributes paid as Fair City star Annie Kent passes away in hospital
Tributes have poured in for Fair City star Annie Kent, following her sudden passing.
Annie, who played Angela O’Connell in the soap from 2005 until 2016, passed away in Beaumont Hospital on Tuesday (June 4) surrounded by her family.
Originally from Mount Pleasant Square, Ranelagh, before relocating to Gorey in Co Wexford, Annie’s death notice reads that she’s the ‘beloved wife of Pierce H and mother of Pierce T and Jayne.’
‘Adored loving Nana of Hannah, Aimee, Lucie, and Alice and sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Jenny, son-in-law Greg and her surviving brothers and sisters Terry, Jane and Charlie and sister-in-law Trish her nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.’
As well as playing Angela O’Connell in the soap, Annie’s other roles have included Rose Kennedy in the adaptation of P.S., I Love You, Mrs Rabbitte in The Commitments, and Sheila in the Virgin Media show Faithless.
Tributes have been paid to Annie following her passing, with one person writing ‘I was very sad & shocked to hear today of Annie’s passing. Sincere sympathy to her beloved Pierce, her son Pierce, daughter Jayne & their families & to all the extended family on both sides. Annie was a joy to know & love. May she RIP.’
‘I am so sorry to hear of Annie‘s passing,’ another wrote. ‘She was a joy and a warm soul, lit up the stage, screen and dressing room alike. She regaled me with great stories, kindly dropping me home every night after a play a lifetime ago. My thoughts are with her family.’
‘My deepest condolences to Annie’s family and friends at this sad time, as we share in our heartache. She was such a lovely woman, and a talented radiant performer,’ another added. ‘She will be missed.’
Annie will be reposing at Murphy’s Funeral Home, the Avenue, Gorey on Friday, June 7 from 6pm to 8pm.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 11.45am at the Church of the Holy Name, Beechwood Avenue Upper, Ranelagh, Dublin 6.
A celebration of Annie’s life will follow at 1.45pm at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin.
