Tributes pour for ‘kind and helpful’ father of two killed in Longford crash

Tributes have poured in for a father of two who tragically lost his life in a horrific road crash in Longford earlier this week.

Damian Machnowski, a Polish national in his 30s, tragically died in a crash at Ballymahon, a town in the southern part of Longford, at approximately 12.45am on Monday.

Mr Machnowski, who had been living in the small town for around a decade, was tragically killed when the car he was driving struck a wall on the outskirts of the town.

Beloved Damian will be dearly missed by his heartbroken wife Anna, as well as his two loving children, his daughter Sophia and his son Alex. He will also be remembered by his many family members, including his mother Alicja and his sisters Honorata, Kamila and Dominika.

Damian’s life will be celebrated by his extended family members also, with his mother-in-law Lidia, sisters-in-law Daria and Justyna, brothers-in-law Sebastian and Tomasz all remembering him.

Tributes have poured in for “kind and helpful” Damian following his tragic passing, from friends, family, neighbours and more.

“Deepest sympathy to Anna, Sophia, Alex and the extended families on the tragic passing of Damian,” one of Damian’s neighbours said.

“Thank you Damian for being such a kind and helpful neighbour to me. Rest easy now in the arms of the angels”.

“Rest in peace Damian,” another woman who came upon the scene of the accident said. “Thinking of all your family and friends. I came upon the accident and prayed the whole way home for you and your family.”

“On this very sad occasion, I would like to extend my condolences to Damian’s wife and children and with all his family and friends. May he rest in peace,” another mourner said.

Damian lay in repose in St Matthew’s Church, Ballymahon on Wednesday with prayers following. His funeral mass and burial will take place in Poland at a later date.
