Tributes pour for motorcyclist who ‘always had a smile’ after tragic crash death
HEARTBREAKING tributes have been paid to a man who “always had a smile” after he tragically lost his life in a horror crash in Co Wicklow.
Harry O’Shea passed away the scene of the single-vehicle smash at Turlough Hill at the Wicklow Gap late on Thursday, June 20.
He has been remembered as a “beloved son”, “much-loved brother”, and a gentleman to his friends.
A notice online reads: “Tragically. Beloved son of Nikki and Ken, much loved brother of Fionn and William and grandson of Harry and Eleanor O’Shea.
“Very sadly missed by his loving parents, brothers, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many, many friends.”
The local community was left devastated after hearing the news of his tragic death, with many flocking to pay tribute to the “warm personality”.
One mourner said: “My heartfelt condolences to Harry’s family. I loved him like a brother and he will be profoundly missed by all who experienced his warm personality.
“He had a way of making you feel like his best mate instantly. Crisp legend. Bless your soul Harry.”
A good friend of Harry said: “Its so hard to find the words. We have so many memories of Harry and lifts to festivals and pubs. Always a smile.
“Most charming young person I ever met. Could not leave a house quietly. So sorry for your loss.
“We can only hold onto the great memories and personality that was Harry. A good friend to all. Thinking of you all at this awful time.”
Another person added: “Very hard to write… what deeply shocking and heartbreaking news. Completely lost for words over Harry’s passing, I can not believe it and my thoughts are with all his family and friends.
“Sending all my love and I hope you find strength. Bless all of you during this time, I pray for your healing.”
Harry’s funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 26 at 11:30am in the Church of The Holy Cross in Dundrum.
A private burial will take place afterwards.
APPEAL FOR HARRY’S FAMILY
A motorcycle group and close members of Harry have launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to help the family cover the cost of funeral expenses.
It reads: “With the blessing of Harry’s family and friends, the motorcycling community has united to honour Harry and support his family.
“We aim to gather funds for flowers, funeral expenses, or a charity chosen by Harry’s family.
“Harry tragically passed away on the evening of Thursday, June 20th, while riding his cherished KTM over the Wicklow Gap.
“Despite the heroic efforts from Joe Bergin, the mountain rescue team including Ronan, Philip, and Jason the AP, along with Mervyn, the fire brigade crew, the guards, and others at the scene, Harry sadly did not survive.
“Those who knew Harry will remember him as a true gentleman, always ready to lend a hand and warm the hearts of those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all.
“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
“In Harry’s honour, I will be organising a brief motorcycle escort from Flanagans Dundrum to Holy Cross Church in Dundrum Village on Wednesday at 11am for an 11:30am service.
“The meeting point will be McDonald’s at Nutgrove Shopping Centre at 10am on Wednesday, June 26th. Hope to see a good gathering there.”
