Tributes to Harry Johnstone as young Cork motorcyclist remembered as ‘gentleman’

Tributes have been paid to Ballincollig man Harry Johnstone who sadly passed away in a crash this week. The young motorcyclist was fatally injured in a collision with a car which occurred just outside Bandon on Monday morning.

Ballincollig native Harry, who was an avid motorcyclist and motoring fan, has been remembered by a wide circle of friends and family as a much-loved young man with a gentle nature and the light of his family’s lives.

The organisers of the Gone But Not Forgotten Bikers Memorial, an annual memorial event dedicated to bikers lost on Irish roads, paid tribute today and expressed their sympathies to his family and friends.

Heartbroken friends said Harry was “always a gentleman.” One friend said he “always had time for a kind word,” while another said they will remember him as a “lovely young man” with a “gorgeous soul.”

Mechanic Harry had worked as a devoted employee at Audi Cork and with the NCT. A former work colleague said Harry was always a “pleasure to work with.”

Harry’s funeral notice reads he is remembered by his parents Tony and Karyn, his sister Marie, his girlfriend Ava, grandparents, brother-in-law, nieces, godparents, aunts, uncles, his many cousins, work colleagues and a wide circle of friends. His Funeral mass takes place on Saturday morning at the Church of the Way of the Cross, Togher followed by a private cremation.

May he RIP.
