Truck inferno forces indefinite Dublin motorway closure as major cleanup begins
A major cleanup operation is taking place on the M1 in Dublin after a waste truck went up in flames on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 3:20pm between Donabate and Balbriggan, Dublin Live reports.
The road remains closed, and it is not explicitly clear when it will reopen as efforts are made to clear debris.

Dublin Fire Brigade remain on scene this evening. Specialist equipment including a foam tender and water tanker are in attendance in an effort to quell the flames, while a teleporter and prime mover are being used on the waste.
Above is the large amount of waste that has spread onto the motorway. Pictures from the scene show the trailer covering destroyed with waste strewn across the road.
As a result of the incident there are severe delays – over an hour – on all routes heading to the M1. All motorists are being urged to avoid the route. LiveDrive said: “M1 north still closed J4-5. Severe delays 60 mins+ from M1 J1 (M50), R108, R125 and R132 and across the surrounding area.”
