Two women charged over Cavan bogus money collection | NorthernSound

Two women have been charged in relation to unauthorised money collecting on behalf of a charitable organisation in Cavan town.

The two were arrested on Monday afternoon in the town and will now appear before Cavan District Court at a later date. These arrests in Cavan this week follow reports of bogus collectors operating in various areas across the North East purporting to be from the Irish Wheelchair Association.

These individuals have been spotted with clipboards and selling lines in the likes of Navan, Drogheda, and Carrickmacross among other places. All IWA collectors will be wearing a branded high-vis jacket and will have an IWA-branded bucket for donations. If in doubt, individuals are encouraged to ask for proof of identification from collectors. Any concerns or suspicions should be reported to the local Garda station for further investigation.
