Urgent warning for BOI customers as thousands left unable to access app
AN urgent warning has been issued to Bank of Ireland customers over issues with its mobile app and Banking 365 online services today.
Customers have been left unable to access their accounts through the application since this morning.
The application and the online services are out of order, impacting several customers who were trying to carry out banking transactions on their devices.
In a statement, Bank of Ireland said it was working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
It reads: “Our app and 365 online are currently unavailable.
“We are working to fix this as soon as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience.”
The timeframe of when the online services and the application will resume service is unknown as the technical teams are working to resolve the issue.
A number of customers took to social media to complain to Bank of Ireland.
One person wrote: “App failing this morning? Cannot make a payment.”
Another person added: “Another day of the app not working.
“Cannot pay staff now as 12 o clock deadline has passed. Shambolic IT from BOI again.
“This is why Revolut is taking over!”
The third person said: “Bank of Ireland website and app down again. Colour me shocked.”
Another added: “Perhaps you might so good as to actually post a notice for people on your website and socials so we are not waiting on customer support on the phone.”
Meanwhile, a major warning has been issued after a huge grant benefitting thousands of Irish people has been discontinued.
The Bereavement Grant previously allowed thousands each year to claim up to €850 in the unfortunate event someone close to them had passed.
The Department of Social Protection once provided a one-off payment to help families with funeral costs or carers’ costs.
Speaking about the grant in the Oireachtas on Wednesday, Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys revealed the grant has since been replaced by two key payments.
She said: “The Bereavement Grant has been discontinued for some time but under the Supplementary Welfare Allowance (SWA) scheme, my Department may make an Additional Needs Payment (ANP) to help meet essential expenditure which an eligible person could not reasonably be expected to meet from their weekly income.
“An ANP application can be made for assistance with funeral and burial expenses where there is an inability to pay these costs, in part or in full, by the family of the deceased person without causing hardship.”

The ANP scheme is described as “demand led” and payments under this are administered by Designated Persons within the Community Welfare Service.
Applications for this scheme are typically processed within ten days.
