Victim (30s) of one punch Monaghan assault left with broken nose, leg and dislocated ankle

This is the man detectives are hoping the public will help identify following a serious assault on a man in his 30s in Monaghan town.

Gardaí have launched a public appeal after a man was violent attacked in Monaghan town, leaving him with a broken nose, leg and dislocated ankle.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was rushed to hospital following the incident.

No arrests have emanated from the incident which took place on December 4, 2023, prompting gardaí to issue a public appeal.

Detectives have obtained CCTV footage which showed a man striking the victim once to the face resulting in him falling to the ground moments later.

The man gardaí wish to speak to is described as being in his 20s, of small or stocky build and was sporting a tight, shaven haircut on the date in question.

He was also wearing jeans and a dark or navy t-shirt with white writing across the chest.

“Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault causing harm that occurred on Dublin St, Monaghan on the 4th December 2024 at approximately 3am, where a man (30s) suffered serious injuries.

“No arrests have been made.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
