Victim of Finglas stabbing pictured as garda probe continues

A man who died following an assault in Dublin has been named locally as a large garda investigation is ongoing.

The victim was named as Michael Ryan, who was in his fifties – and it’s understood the incident happened after a row and is not connected to any ongoing feuds in the Finglas area. Another man has been arrested in connection with the incident. After 12.30am on Thursday, gardai were alerted to a man with serious injuries at Hampton Wood Way on St Margaret’s Road in Finglas.

Flowers were left at the scene yesterday, and forensic officers were present as the area was taped off. Mr Ryan was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The state pathologist was notified and a post-mortem examination was scheduled for Thursday at Dublin City Mortuary.

A man in his 30s was arrested as part of the investigation and he is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. The scene was preserved for technical examination and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information that can assist Gardai with this investigation is asked to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01 6667500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
