Victim of tragic Longford crash named locally as Gardai appeal for witnesses
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a man died in a road crash in Co Longford.
The man, named locally as Damian Machnowski, died in a crash at Ballymahon at around 12.45am on Monday. Mr Machnowski was a Polish national in his 30s but had lived in the town for around a decade.
He was fatally injured when the car he was driving struck a wall on the outskirts of the town. His remains have been taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar Co Westmeath, where a post-mortem will take place, Gardaí said.

A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ballymahon Garda Station on 090 6432303, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
