Victoria Centre sweet shop closes down after five years in Nottingham

A family-run sweet shop at the Victoria Centre has thanked one special customer as it announced its permanent closure. Benson’s Sweet Shop, located on the lower mall of the Nottingham shopping centre, has permanently closed its doors after five years.

A notice displayed in the shop’s window announced the closure, but also thanked a special customer – Rob – for their support. The notice reads: “Sadly, Benson’s Sweet Shop has now closed.

“It’s been a pleasure to be in the Victoria Centre for the past five years. We would like to say thank you to our customers who have supported us, especially Rob!”

The reason for the closure has not been revealed by the business, which launched in Nottingham in 2019. A second shop was opened in Leeds, however, according to Google, that has also closed permanently.

The family business stocked a wide range of American sweets, such as Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, and Mike and Ike. Other sweet treats like fudge selection boxes and toffee bon bons were also available.

A spokesperson for Victoria Centre, said: “We can confirm that Bensons Sweet Shop left the centre earlier this month and we wish the team the very best for the future. As we continue to build on our exciting offering at the centre, we look forward to welcoming new brands in the coming months, including Starbucks, Thai Express and Japami.”
