After learning from veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins for the first four years of his career, Minnesota Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson has some valuable knowledge he hopes to impart to rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

While speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Jefferson revealed that the Vikings placed McCarthy’s locker right next to his, and he’s already impressed with the inquisitive nature of the young signal-caller.

“They want me to be that guy that J.J. can always talk to and ask questions,” Jefferson said. “He’s definitely that type of kid. He definitely wants to ask questions. He wants to learn how to become a top quarterback. He wants to learn how to become a problem in this league.”

McCarthy was the No. 10 pick in this year’s draft after starring at Michigan for the last three seasons and leading the team to a national championship in his junior year. The Vikings needed a quarterback of the future after Cousins departed in free agency to join the Atlanta Falcons.

While McCarthy has big shoes to fill, Jefferson believes he’s up for the challenge of proving himself as a capable quarterback in the NFL.

“I always tell him, don’t really worry about the expectations, all you have to do is carry yourself with confidence,” Jefferson said.
