Video: Rams’ 2024 NFL Draft Trade Talks with Jets amid Brock Bowers Rumors Revealed
Rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Rams’ attempt to trade up in the 2024 NFL draft swirled during the first round, and a video posted by the NFL on Friday seemed to confirm those reports.
The efforts were detailed on “NFL Draft: The Pick Is In,” and the NFL revealed a segment on X Friday in which Rams general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay tried to make some moves.
It wasn’t made clear during the segment who the Rams were coveting, but NFL Network’s Peter Schrager reported during the draft that the Rams “really fell in love with” Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.
The Rams offered No. 19 and No. 52 to the Jets for No. 10, but it appears that general manager Joe Douglas wasn’t fond of dropping nine spots in Round 1.
L.A. then tried to make a move with the Vikings, who are led by head coach (and ex-Rams offensive coordinator) Kevin O’Connell. McVay called his old friend to see if anything could be done, but O’Connell let him know that the Vikings were staying put to take Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Bowers, who was ranked second overall on the B/R NFL Scouting Department big board, ended up going 13th overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Rams stayed put at No. 19 and selected Florida State defensive end Jared Verse.
