Viral travel hack prevents tourists from theft and pickpockets on holiday

TikTok influencer Maddie Rudder has shared a viral travel hack that will save you from pickpockets and theft when travelling abroad.

The clever trick includes a simple solution which makes it impossible for thieves and pickpockets to run off with your bag.

Maddie said you should be ‘good to go’ on your travels without the extra stress when using the hack.

Many cities across Europe which are popular for tourists during the summer season are also unfortunately well known for theft and pickpocketing – leaving travellers in a stressful situation.

Famous cities like Rome and Paris are well known for scam artists and opportunist thieves who might try to snatch a bag from an unsuspecting tourist.

Tik Tok influencer Maddie said that using a zip tie to fasten the clip on your fanny pack is one way to ensure you don’t lose your belongings when you’re distracted looking at sites.

Maddie said: “If you’re travelling in Europe or anywhere else prone to pick pocketers, and you want to use a fanny pack, run a zip tie through the buckle.

“That way someone can not unbuckle it from behind and run off with your stuff.”

The travel hack has gone viral as the summer season goes into full swing, and holidaymakers are on the search for tips to keep them safe on their travels.

Commenters on the post advised to remain aware of your bag even if you use the hack – noting that pickpockets can be sneaky.

They said: “They are known to also slice the bottom of a bag and empty the contents. Better not to carry a bag at all if you can.”

Others advised wearing your bag underneath a jackets or your t-shirt so that it is not immediately visible to thieves and pickpockets.
