Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787 flight #VS41 to San Francisco turned around over Greenland

A Virgin Atlantic Dreamliner returned to London Heathrow after 6 hours of flight.

Virgin Atlantic flight #VS41 departed London Heathrow Monday, May 27 2024 et 18:47 BST from runway 27R to San Francisco.

The flight – which was scheduled to last 10 hours – was performed by a Boeing 787-9 with registration G-VCRU which is 8 years old.

But between Iceland and Greenland, the aircraft turned around. Pilots contacted ATC about a technical issue.

The airline decided to divert back the aircraft to London Heathrow due to a cracked windshield according to Flight Emergency.

We’re sorry to advise that this flight VS041 27 May 2024 has been cancelled due to returning from airborne with a technical issue.

The Dreamliner landed back on the same runway at London Heathrow about 6 hours after the departure.
