Ward elevated to Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Wilson College – Women’s HoopDirt
Wilson College Director of Athletics Tina Hill has announced the promotion of Dylan Ward as the new head coach of the women’s basketball team. Ward had previously been the assistant coach for the Phoenix under Shane Rottier during the past two seasons where he helped lead the Blue and White to the postseason both years with the 2022-23 campaign being the best season 22 years.
“I am extremely honored to have been selected as the next head coach of the Wilson College women’s basketball program,” said Ward. “I would like to thank Tina Hill and the entire committee for this opportunity along with former Head Coach Rottier, for his leadership and mentorship that has prepared me well for this this next step. I would also like to thank my family for their unwavering support along the way!
“Wilson College is a terrific school, with excellent academics and tremendous support from the students, faculty, and staff. I am thrilled to continue being apart of the Wilson College community, especially in my new role,” Ward continued. “I am excited to lead this group of talented young women and continue the success of the foundation we have built over the last few seasons. We have set some expectations that will be met with patience, hard work, and team-first style of basketball. Go Phoenix!”
“We’re excited to have Coach Ward join us in this new role as our head coach. His passion for the sport, coupled with his commitment to our team and desire to compete for the conference championship led him through a competitive applicant pool,” added Hill. “Coach Ward’s background in education will also serve our program and campus well. He readily seeks to be involved in all areas across campus and will position our students to be the best they can be, both on and off the court. Our program is in good hands under Coach Ward’s leadership.”
Prior to Ward coming to Wilson, he was on the coaching staff at Cumberland Valley Christian School in Chambersburg from 2014 to 2022. He took over the head coaching job in 2018 and increased the team’s wins by 15 games in his first season. During his second year the Blazers improved even more and finished with a record of 23-9.
Outside of coaching Ward also worked at Carlisle Christian Academy and Cumberland Valley Christian as a middle school educator and athletic director.
Ward earned his undergraduate degree from Davis College in 2014. He played for the Falcons for four seasons and holds the all-time program record for games played. While there he led Davis to the Small Bible College National Championship in 2010 and 2012.
