Warriors’ Klay Thompson Responds to NBA Fan Trolling Him on IG Photo by Giving Advice
Klay Thompson is taking the high road with social media trolls.
The Warriors guard wished a young basketball player well after he made a comment about Thompson’s scoreless outing in Golden State’s Play-In Tournament loss to the Sacramento Kings.
Thompson is set for unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career this summer. He recently made headlines by unfollowing the Warriors and deleting several Warriors-centric posts from his social media pages.
While Warriors players and coach Steve Kerr have been open about wanting Thompson back in the fold, it’s clear at this point he plans on testing the market.
“I know I speak for everyone in the organization, we want him back,” coach Steve Kerr said. “Obviously there’s business at hand and that has to be addressed. … But what Klay has meant to this franchise, as good as he is, we definitely want him back.”
Thompson is coming off arguably the most disappointing season of his NBA career. He averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists and was even relegated to a sixth-man role at one point amid shooting struggles. His 38.7 percent shooting clip from three was the second-worst number of his career, topped only by the 2021-22 season when he came back after a 30-month absence.
“You sulk, you pout when you’re not shooting up to your expected splits,” Thompson said in April. “I think I did better with that this year, just trying to exude great body language at all times and think deeper than just stats, think about your love for the game and why you do play this game.”
Despite his age (34) and clear downtick in play amid injury issues, Thompson will undoubtedly find interest on the open market given his historical shooting brilliance.
