Watch: Cork girl gets special ’22 hat’ from Taylor Swift during Aviva Stadium show

One lucky Cork girl was chosen to receive a very special gift at the Eras tour on Sunday night – a signed hat worn by Taylor Swift herself.

Eight-year-old Clara O’Sullivan, from Ladysbridge, attended the sold-out show in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin with her family after she was given the tickets for her Holy Communion.

Her aunt Stephanie Skierka told 96FM’s PJ Coogan that they were all “going crazy” during the show when a woman on Swift’s team approached them and asked Clara to come with her.

“Clara was like, ‘Where are we going?’ and she was like, ‘We’ll see.’ And they literally took her up to the stage.

“Her favourite song came on and she got the hat. It was such an incredible experience for her, and for us.”

Clara was chosen to join a small cohort of children who are brought right up to the stage during Swift’s performance of her hit song ’22’, from the 2012 album Red. The hat is signed by the singer for each performance, with her name, the location and the year.

As well as receiving the hat, Clara also received a big hug from the star and a high five – and she even got to give the superstar one of her friendship bracelets.

Stephanie and Clara say they have no idea how she was chosen out of the thousands of other fans in attendance.

“We’re kind of starstruck even now til this morning. It was the most randomest [sic] picking ever but she’s just so grateful,” Stephanie said.

“She was going crazy, to be fair. She was giving it her all through the whole concert.” Clara told PJ they were dancing their “heads off” when she was approached but had “no clue what was happening”.

“Then everyone was screaming and I just got the hat,” she said.

The eight-year-old said the hat would not be going into a glass case and that she would be wearing it around the town to show all her friends.

Sunday night was the last of three sold-out shows by the American popstar in Ireland, who now brings her Eras tour to the Netherlands, before moving on to other dates in Europe and finishing up in Canada.
