David McNeilly is one of the most popular and well known caddies on Tour. He has worked for the likes of Nick Faldo, Nick Price and Pádraig Harrington – but has agonisingly missed out on being on the bag for a Major win.

Golf has been good to him, he tells Paul Kimmage, and he still retains his enthusiasm for what he does.

At 72, the Belfast man is the oldest caddy at the US Open in Pinehurst this week, 51 years older than his current employer, Tom McKibbin.

It is McKibbin’s first major, and McNeilly says he has been really impressed with how the young golfer is handling the pressure of being out on Tour.
