Daily horse racing tips

  • NEWTON ABBOT
    3.40: Mullinaree 13/2 Each-way (1pt)
  • CURRAGH
    5.55: Mother Nature 2/1 (1.5pts)
  • KEMPTON
    6.10: Smart Hero 9/2 (1.5pts)
    6.40: Cat Ninja 15/8 (1.5pts)

Mullinaree

Mullinaree is an outsider in this Novices’ Chase with just six runners, but has an each-way shout that may not be considered by many.

Him Malaya will make his chase debut at five-years-old and could be well-weighted to win this, but Mullinaree shouldn’t be discounted based on his latest chase start.

He finished only around ten lengths behind Oxygen at Plumpton in a Class 3, but that has since worked out very well.

With Pepe Le Moko and Scarface who came second and third respectively going up in the weights subsequently with a win each.

The winner has only been seen once since, but the placers certainly set the standard, with Pepe Le Moko beating Le Ligerien next time out and Scarface winning three times since and placing twice too.

Mullinaree has also gone down a total of 8lb since his chase debut and has been rested since pulling up at Sandown when reverting briefly to hurdles.

All these things point towards him being well suited on return and ideally placed up against some inexperienced chasers.

Mother Nature

Justify’s progeny are doing well and this filly by that horse was 8/13 favourite on debut should get her head in front on her second run with that experience under her belt.

She was denied by a short head at Dundalk in April and hasn’t been seen until now to continue her three-year-old career.

Her debut was on the all-weather and though she was disappointing, this can often happen on a first run, and she did do well to nearly get the win on the line as she had her head in front in the final 100 yards, but just got pipped by the horse who set the tempo.

Ryan Moore is on board and this filly is of huge interest on her turf debut at the Curragh.

Smart Hero

This three-year-old colt was really impressive here on debut and only just got denied a big win at 11/1 by a neck to the favourite Sir Les Patterson.

Most read in Horse Racing

He was drawn out widest of all and just held up at the back before making a huge amount of progress in the final couple of furlongs to challenge, despite being a good ten lengths away on the turn in to the straight.

The big colt breezed past a good six or seven rivals in the final furlong and that was despite being a bit coltish before even getting in the stalls.

As a result, there was clearly more promise and upped to a Class 3 novice but didn’t quite run to the same effect, but now he’s back here over the same course and distance and remains huge interest.

Cat Ninja

This is another horse I’ve tipped before, but this John & Thady Gosden-trained filly won nicely at 9/4SP at Windsor in a maiden back in May.

She returned a good amount as she had a 1.5pts stake on at 7/2 and saw off all 11 rivals comfortably.

She and Clove Hitch finished 11 lengths ahead of the rest of the field.

Cat Ninja was an eyecatcher on debut at Yarmouth on April 30th.

She placed just a neck second having compromised quite a few lengths at the start dwelling at the off but also taking a keen hold.

She too, like Smart Hero, made up a lot of ground in the final furlong and justified that promise with a great win.

Interesting now coming to Kempton but the Gosden’s have good form on the all-weather track so has to be fancied to continue that promising progress.
