A Wexford primary school which currently has around 200 pupils is set to go under the hammer via an online auction this week.

Wexford Educate Together is situated in the Whitemill Industrial Estate in Wexford town and is being brought to the market by Bidx1 with a guide price of €400,000.

In the pack made available to prospective investors, it is stated that the school building, which extends to 3,584 sq ft, is currently occupied on an “informal tenancy agreement with the Department of Education”. It currently commands an annual rent of €72,000.

However, it’s unclear how long this revenue source will remain. A new, state of the art Wexford Educate Together building is to be built alongside a new post-primary school on a 12 acre site at the nearby Killeens provided to the Department of Education by Wexford County Council.

Regardless, selling agent Robert Heffernan of Bidx1 describes it as “an industrial/primary school investment opportunity” and no doubt alternative uses will be easy to come by once the school vacates the the site in the busy industrial estate/business park.

The school will go up for auction on Thursday (June 27) at 9 a.m. Those interested in bidding are required to pay a €7,000 deposit, which is refundable if they are an unsuccessful bidder. For more details, contact Bidx1.
