Children across the county are being encouraged to take part in tennis camps this July as the popular Wexford Parks Tennis returns for the summer. The camps will be held in seven venues (Bunclody, Bree, Wexford, Glynn Barntown, Murrintown, Piercestown, and New Ross) from July 1-26 with separate sessions for those aged nine and under and nine and over.

Aspiring Federers and Sharapovas will have four newly qualified Tennis Ireland level one coaches on hand to put them through their paces with singles, doubles and mixed doubles played during the camps.

In a new initiative, participants will be given a sticker collection card with different stickers awarded for learning new tennis strokes. There will also be free one-hour sessions for parents on how to play tennis with your child.

“Parks Tennis ran an extensive schools programme this year in all the schools in Wexford town and all the children loved the fun games and simple strokes,” said organiser of the summer camps, Austin Pender. “It shows how popular tennis is among all children.”
