Anticipation on day twelve of Wimbledon as tennis fans are excited for the final this weekend – with a star-studded line-up making an appearance at the Royal Box today. 

As the name suggests, the box often houses members of the Royal Family, notably the Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Although Kate herself has not stepped out at SW19 so far this year as she continues her cancer treatment, royals and other celebrities have attended in their dozens. Just today, her younger sister Pippa made an appearance – but wasn’t snapped in the Royal Box.

Today saw the Duchess of Gloucester, the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the Earl of Snowdon in attendance along with A-listers Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek and Hugh Grant.

Elsewhere, music legend Dame Shirley Bassey made an appearance, as did James Norton and Felicity Kendal.

Today’s Royal Box on Centre Court at Wimbledon may be the most star-studded yet as the best seats in the house are brimming with A-listers. 1. Duchess of Gloucester 2. Deborah Jevans 3. Duchess of Gloucester

The Duchess of Gloucester was effortlessly elegant in a cream jacket as she attended day twelve of Wimbledon – have made an appearance on day three of the championship as well.

Brigitte, 78, is the wife of Richard, the Duke of Gloucester – who is the late Queen’s cousin.

The couple married on July 8, 1972 at St Andrew’s Church in Barnwell, Northamptonshire.

Her husband was born Prince Richard of Gloucester and met his Danish future wife, Birgitte van Deurs, who was studying at the Bell School of Languages, at Cambridge University in 1965. 

He was working as an architect but cut his career short when his older brother Prince William of Gloucester tragically died in a plane crash seven weeks after their marriage.

Richard then became the heir to his father, Henry, Duke of Gloucester- one of George VI‘s brothers.

Prince Richard and Birgitte had not expected to embark on a life of duty but did so after their marriage when he became the heir.

They have spent 50 years as working royals and visited charities and organisations carrying out hundreds of engagements together for sectors such as humanitarian issues, the environment and veterans.

Prince Michael of Kent 

He looked to be in high spirits as he attended Wimbledon with his wife today. Prince Michael is also a cousin of the late Prince Philip through his mother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark

Prince Michael of Kent – who is related to Tsar Nicholas through his grandfather George V, was a first cousin of the assassinated Russian ruler. 

He looked to be in high spirits as he attended Wimbledon with his wife today. 

Prince Michael is also a cousin of the late Prince Philip through his mother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, who was the niece of the Duke of Edinburgh’s father, Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark.  

Born just weeks before his father’s tragic death in a plane crash in 1942, Prince Michael is the youngest of three. 

The oldest, the Duke of Kent, now 87, inherited his title when he was only six. His sister, Princess Alexandra, 86, is, like the Duke, a working royal.

Whilst he has to cope with being the youngest of three, Prince Michael can boast about the fact that one of his godparents was wartime US President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He agreed to take on the honour after being asked to do so by the Prince’s parents, due to the fact he was born on the US’s Independence Day.

When the Queen and Prince Philip married at Westminster Abbey in 1947, Prince Michael, then aged just five, was one of the page boys. 

Photos of the ceremony show him holding up the then Princess’s train as she stood next to her husband-to-be in front of Archbishop of Canterbury Geoffrey Fisher. 

The Prince was later among the guests at the Queen’s Coronation in 1953. 

Like his brother, Prince Michael was educated at Eton College and had a long Army career. 

Princess Michael of Kent

Princess Michael of Kent, 79, whose full name is Marie Christine Anna Agnes Hedwig Ida von Reibnitz, is the wife of Prince Michael of Kent.

She married Prince Michael, King Charles III’s first cousin once removed, in 1978 and the couple share two children – Lady Gabriella Windsor and Lord Frederick Windsor.

Lady Gabriella Windsor lost her husband, Thomas Kingston, a British diplomat and financier, in February 2024 when he was just 45.

She recently appeared at Royal Ascot with Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Tindall, who embraced her warmly.

Seated in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, Princess Michael of Kent was dressed for the cool weather in a pale blue wool coat and a white polo neck.

Earl of Snowdon

The Earl of Snowdon is the son of the late Princess Margaret, making him King Charles’s cousin.

Known for most of his life as Viscount Linley, he became a cabinet maker and designer.

A favourite of the late Queen Elizabeth II, he today advises his cousin, King Charles III and is thought to be behind the King’s sharp appearance in recent months.

‘Insiders credit David Armstrong-Jones with the increasingly contemporary wardrobe – and hip accessories – sported by Charles,’ wrote Kate Mansey in The Mail on Sunday.

David, 62, was fifth in line to the throne when he was born, on November 3, 1961. Today, he is 24th in line.

The young royal spent much of his early life at Buckingham Palace, where he was close to his younger sister Lady Sarah Chatto.

They became close to their cousins in Royal Family and spent time together both at home and on holiday.

He became the 2nd Earl of Snowdon on the death of his father in 2017.

Damian Lewis

Damian Lewis, 53, is a British actor best known for his work in Homeland. The actor donned a dusky blue linen suit and was all smiles as he attended day twelve of Wimbledon today.

Last month, the actor looked in great spirits as he was joined by his girlfriend Alison Mosshart at the A View From The Bridge play press night in London. 

He looked incredibly dapper in a beige buttoned up blazer jacket and black T-shirt and completed the look with some black jeans and Chelsea boots as he posed with his arm around Alison. 

Damian and Alison were first spotted together in the summer of 2022, with Alison’s mother Vivian giving the relationship her seal of approval soon after.

Alison, who is the lead singer for the rock bands The Kills and The Dead Weather, kept it casual in a black zip up sports hoody, adorned with white edging. 

Hugh Grant and Anna Elisabet Eberstein

As Paddington 2 star Hugh arrived in the royal box, he chatted to fellow A-list actor Rami Malek, who has an Oscar to his name for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody as the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

Hugh smiled as he greeted his fellow actor ahead of taking their seats to catch the semi-finals. 

Felicity Kendal

The Diamonds Are Forever singer, 87, was joined at the ceremony by her daughter Sharon, grandson Sebastian and great-granddaughter Sofia.

Today, she attended day twelve of Wimbledon in a glamorous pink star-print dress and black cardigan.

In 1999, Shirley became Dame Shirley in the honours lists and said: ‘I have had 70 years of glamorous moments. 

‘I think the first time I sang for the (late) Queen at the Royal Variety- my very first show (was my most glamorous). 

‘I did quite a few after that and was very blase about it.’  

But Dame Shirley was extremely gracious in accepting her honour today. 

She said: ‘Receiving the Order of the Companions of Honour is just one of the most wonderful feelings. Music has been a constant companion in my life.

‘As a little girl growing up in Tiger Bay (Cardiff), I would dream of travelling the world and never imagined that one day my voice would take me to where I am now.

‘Entertaining audiences for over 70 years has been a privilege. My heart is full of emotion and I am truly humbled.’

Asked what it was like to be dubbed an icon, she said: ‘It can be very nice, and it can be very isolating and a nuisance – especially if you’re in a restaurant and people come and sit at your table uninvited.’

Lady Annabel Goldsmith

As he arrived on Centre Court today, Norton, 38, brought his mother as his guest to the best seats in London.

At one point, the actor shared a sweet moment with his mother as he pointed to something on her face while she smiled back at him.

Friends of the pair suggested last month that the couple may be looking to get engaged soon, after they reportedly moved into a £5 million house together in London. 

A source told The Sun: ‘They have got a £5million house together in Hampstead and moved in together a few weeks ago.

‘Rami and Emma are both really serious about each other. Even though they’ve only been dating for 11 months they are moving quickly because for them, this relationship feels like forever.

‘Their friends have said they wouldn’t be surprised if Rami proposed soon.’

Deborah Jevans, 64, is a former England tennis star who played in 10 Grand Slam competitions between 1979 and 1983.

She is married to Andrew Jarrett, a former tennis player and Wimbledon referee, with whom she played mixed doubles at Wimbledon in 1978, reaching the quarter finals.

Deborah became Vice-Chair of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in July 2023.

She was appointed CBE in 2013 for services to sport and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Rohit Sharma

Tristram Hunt

Hunt has been director of London¿s Victoria and Albert Museum since 2017 and is a senior lecturer in History at Queen Mary University of London

Former Labour MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central, Tristram Hunt, 50, served as Shadow Secretary of State for Education between from 2013 to 2015.

Hunt has been director of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum since 2017 and is a senior lecturer in History at Queen Mary University of London.

He is also a broadcast journalist who appears regularly on the BBC.

Hunt attended Wimbledon with his wife Juliet Thornback – the couple share one son and wo daughters.
