Why you should turn up early for your hotel room – even if check-in is late
YOU might want to turn up at your hotel room early especially after being stuck in a cramped plane for hours.
But most hotels don’t start their check-in hours until afternoon and with heavy bags under your arms and eyes, you might not want to wait.
One traveller has revealed that you don’t necessarily need to wait around killing time even if your check-in is later in the day.
There is a chance you could access your room earlier by just showing up and asking.
One savvy holidaymaker has posted the nifty travel hack on X, former Twitter, saying: “Does everyone know you can go into a hotel before check-in time and say “I have a reservation today, is there any chance my room is ready?” and they will usually say sure?”
The trick might not be ground-breaking, but most people won’t even take a chance and ask.
If you’re still worried if it’s worth asking, other travellers have flocked to the post to share their experiences.
One person said: “It’s almost always ready early!”
Another one said: “I did this in London last month. Went to the hotel to drop off my bags in the morning.
“They asked would I like to check in already. I said sure!”
A third person added: “It’s always an option to ask. Even if a room is not ready, you can drop off your luggage and use the facilities.
“If it’s a resort type hotel, they’ll let you use the pool and lounge around while you wait. If it’s a Las Vegas hotel, I find that the room is almost always ready earlier.”
Someone else agreed, saying: “As someone who probably stays in 2-4 different hotels a month, about 80% of the time I show up early, they check me in right away.”
Even if the hotel refuses your request, you can still probably wait in the lounge.
But be careful as some hotels could be charging extra for an early check-in and make sure to confirm first.
