Witness appeal after man seriously injured in Cork hit-and-run
Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run road traffic incident that happened in Doneraile last week.
At approximately 2.30pm on Friday, June 28, gardaí and emergency services said they were alerted to a road traffic incident involving two cars at Brough Cross in Doneraile.
A man in his 20s sustained serious injuries in the incident. He was later taken by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for treatment.
Gardaí said the driver of one of the cars involved failed to remain at the scene and has yet to come forward.
On Wednesday, investigating gardaí issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision.
“Any road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity of Doneraile between 2pm and 2.30pm and have camera footage are asked to make this available,” a Garda spokesperson said.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
Anyone with information has been asked to contact Mallow Garda Station at 022-31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
It comes as four people have died on Irish roads in the past 24 hours. Two men were killed following separate collisions in Castlepollard, Co Westmeath while a woman and her eight-year-old daughter died after the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry in Co Mayo.
