Woman, 70s, dies after being struck by lorry in Co Mayo

A woman aged in her 70s has died after being struck by a lorry in Co Mayo.

The incident happened in a supermarket car park in Westport before 12pm.

The woman, who was a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The scene was preserved and examined by forensic investigators.

The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be arranged.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam recordings, who were in the vicinity at the time are urged to provide it to gardaí.
