Women’s Basketball to travel to Notre Dame for SEC-ACC Challenge – University of Texas Athletics
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern and Atlantic Coast conferences announced the dates and matchups for the 2024 SEC-ACC Women’s Challenge on Wednesday. The Texas women’s basketball team will travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame on Thursday, Dec. 5.
The Longhorns and Fighting Irish will match up for the third time in program history and first time since the 1996-97 season.
In the 2023-24 season Texas captured the Big 12 tournament championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns finished with an overall record of 33-5, their most wins since the 1985-86 national championship season.
Notre Dame finished the 2023-24 season with a record of 28-7 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Notre Dame captured the 2024 ACC tournament championship.
The game will feature a pair of First Team All-Americans with Madison Booker from Texas and Hannah Hidalgo from Notre Dame each earning the recognition in their freshman season. Booker and Hidalgo have been teammates with USA Basketball.
