Wriddhiman Saha has reportedly agreed to return to the Bengal cricket team for the upcoming domestic season after performing the role of player-cum-mentor with the Tripura senior side for two years. One of the biggest cricket names to come out from Bengal, Saha parted ways with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in 2022 after his commitment to the team was questioned.
But the wicketkeeper-batter is set to return to the Bengal team after a meeting with former India captain Sourav Ganguly at his residence on Monday afternoon, as per the Times of India.
The next step for Saha will now be to take the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Tripura Cricket Association.
News agency PTI also reported on similar lines that Saha is set for a return to Bengal team.
“Ganguly wants Saha to retire for Bengal, playing at least one last match. Saha told me this. But he’s yet to ask for an NOC (no objection certificate) from Tripura,” Tripura Cricket Association joint secretary Jayanta Dey told PTI.
“We have recently given NOC to Sudip Chatterjee who is set for a Bengal return, but Saha has not asked for it as of now,” he added.
His place in the team, however, could be guaranteed as youngster Abhishek Porel has taken up the role of the keeper-batter in the Bengal team.
