Two businesses are about to move in – an optician and a local bakery – so the new owners will have a fully occupied shopping hub, according to UK Property Forums.

Human habitation in the area just across River Thames from Reading dates back to more than 1,000 years ago, and it was mentioned in the Domesday Book.

When the shopping centre opened in the late 1960s, the selection of businesses looked very different compared to the retailers today.

More than 50 years ago, tenants included the Green Shied Stamp shop now occupied by Superdrug, while the Stan Eldon sports shop and Knights newsagent was located where Boots and Costa are now, according to BerkshireLive.
