An ambulance at Wexford General Hospital.

A Wexford community is reeling following the sudden death of a 25 year-old woman following a medical emergency at her home.

The alarm was raised shortly after 7 a.m. this morning after the young woman was found unresponsive in her bed at her Wexford town home.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, however, paramedics were unable to save the 25 year-old, who comes from a well-known local family, and she was sadly declared dead at the scene.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that they were not treating the woman’s death as suspicious and that her passing was being regarded as a “sudden death”.

Having been removed to Wexford General Hospital, the young woman’s remains were taken to University Hospital Waterford where a full post-mortem examination was due to be carried out.

This latest tragedy has befallen the area less than one month after 41 year-old mother of four Lisa Gabbett died after also being discovered unresponsive in bed at her Maudlintown home on May 3.
