Youth Gun Violence Prevention Summit-basketball game aims to keep kids on positive path
City leaders, members of the NYPD and survivors of gun violence will be in the South Bronx today for a Youth Gun Violence Prevention Summit and basketball game.
The event was organized by Yanely Henriquez, mother of Angellyh Yambo – a teenager caught in the crossfire of a shooting on April 8, 2022 while walking home from school. She was 16 years old.
Speakers plan to lay out strategies to fight gun violence and lead the youth down a positive path.
The summit will be followed by a walk to honor victims of gun violence. Then a basketball game at La Central YMCA on Westchester Avenue.

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.
